Reconstruct is recruiting
Reconstruct is recruiting students to join the team full-time for the Summer of 2026, with the possibility to continue part-time or full-time during the subsequent academic year.
Positions are available for undergraduate, masters, and PhD students. Current undergraduate students are encouraged to apply within the scope of the SURE program.
Research activities
This summer's research activities will focus on two areas: Architectural solutions and Decision-making tools.
Architectural Solutions
- Supporting design work through the development of architectural solutions for DER and densification designs for pilot projects;
- Prototyping and testing designs;
- BIM modeling (revit);
- Rendering of DER and densification designs for pilot projects;
- Work will include learning and using software used to facilitate off-site manufacturing and DfMA (cadwork) in collaboration with industry experts (Holzraum System).
Decision-making tools
- Develop a Retrofit Costing database: Tasks include background research, stakeholder engagement, and development of the data management framework and software;
- Total cost of building ownership: Research and develop a framework to estimate the financial impact of retrofit scenarios over the lifespan of a building;
- Automating extraction of Building characteristics using machine vision and machine learning;
- Full tool suite: Further development of existing tools to raise their technological readiness level and ensure seamless integration between the components.

Undergraduate students are encouraged to apply within the SURE program. To be eligible to join Reconstruct within the SURE program, students must complete fill out the Reconstruct recruitment survey by 11:59pm on January 24th AND complete an application directly to SURE on myFuture by January 30th.
