Quebec is home to over 65 000 Habitations à Loyer Modique (HLMs) which form the backbone of the province's Multi-Unit Residential (MURB) affordable housing stock. Unfortunately, many of these important buildings are in poor condition due to deferred maintenance and piecemeal renovation interventions. One of the best ways to get the stock back in shape is through adopting panelized Deep Energy Retrofits (DERs) at scale.

In order to roll out widespread DERs, high-impact pilot must be strategically selected such that a pipeline of similar buildings can also be retrofitted. These buildings should be easy to renovate from a logistical standpoint and be highly similar to other project-candidates in the building stock. This poster explores the eliminatory criteria which contribute to identifying promising pilot projects, in addition to the enticing opportunities and important process and design factors which must be taken into account before taking them on.
