Reconstruct’s Architectural Solutions team is collaborating with the engineering consultant firm ARUP to develop a preliminary structural feasibility study for a panelized densification pilot project in Mile-Ex. The scope of work includes determining the existing building’s structural capacity to support a third-floor addition and analyzing the structure of a proposed auxiliary dwelling unit (ADU).
A preliminary study has been completed to size the new rigid moment frame structure for the ADU in order to support its prefabricated wall and floor components while complying with updated seismic code requirements. These recommendations are being incorporated into the building’s design as drawings and construction notes.
This collaboration has been organized into six sessions. The first introductory session was held in the FARMM lab at McGill University on January 30, 2026 and was followed by several online meetings.
